DATU PADUKA MAT SALLEH

Mat Salleh (Paduka Muhammad Salleh Datu Balu) or Paduka Mat Salleh’s struggle against the North Borneo Chartered Company (NBCC) was indeed a meaningful struggle in the history of Sabah.

His struggle became the inspiration to other warriors to fight against the Colonial Power.

Paduka Mat Salleh can be regarded as the only Muslim warrior in Sabah who fought for the welfare and interest of the people.
